I’m A Volvo Driving Soccer Dad - For Real

Being a single father to a couple of 5 year old twin boys isn’t close to being a leisurely walk in a park. Especially so as its little league soccer season once more. This time around yours truly is in charge of getting the team jerseys produced.

Being one of but 3 dudes among 13 women in our team’s committee, it was a little bit of an effort to get most of the committee to come to an agreement not to change the team’s kit color from red to a color I’ve never even heard off. But try as we might, we were not met with success to change the team name to The Red Wizards from The Red Flamingos.

After searching for jerseys, and believe it or not - team sponsors, I realized that our team did not have a logo. I raised this issue with the other two dads and we decided that it would be winning idea if we had our very own team logo. So we decided to design a logo each and present them to the committee.

The three of us met up the following weekend with our works of art and had a good laugh before unanimously deciding not to quite our day jobs to become designers. Apparently, my Flamingo looked like a Woodpecker on steroids. But we went ahead and presented the designs to the committee anyway.

Although the committee barred the three of us from designing anything club related ever again, they did agree to the idea that the team should indeed have its own logo. So I went back and did a search for logo design hungary, shortlisted a couple of design agencies and presented them to the committee.

Now our little soccer team has its own logo. We had badges made for the jerseys and stickers printed just for fun - thanks to some sponsorship we got from the ice cream shop next to the park. The logo itself looks really cool with a Flamingo standing on one leg with the other leg resting on a soccer ball with its wings akimbo.

Rumor has it that next year I’ll be in charge of refreshments. I’m already planning to talk to Red Bull about sponsorship.
